Job summary

ISG Search Inc in the Niagara Region, Ontario, seeks a Senior Accountant for a full-time, on-site role within a growing multi-entity organization.

You will perform full-cycle accounting, month-end close, journal entries, trial balances, and intercompany reconciliations, while assisting with audits and tax remittances and supporting process improvements.

Opportunity to mentor junior staff and contribute to automation initiatives across entities.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, trial balances, reconciliations and month-end processes.
  • Experience performing financial analysis and variance reporting.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • CPA designation or progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset but is not required.
  • Experience within a multi-entity environment is considered an asset.
  • Previous industry-specific accounting or financial reporting experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle accounting duties, including month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare and reconcile trial balances, general ledger accounts and balance sheet schedules.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals and adjusting entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Perform financial statement and variance analysis, including month-over-month and year-over-year comparisons.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reporting.
  • Review accounts payable and accounts receivable aging reports and reconcile applicable sub-ledgers.
  • Complete intercompany accounting and reconciliations across multiple entities.
  • Assist with tax remittances, regulatory requirements and annual audit activities.
  • Communicate professionally with internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Support and mentor junior accounting team members as required.
  • Assist with the development and improvement of accounting procedures and processes.
  • Support automation and technology initiatives aimed at improving efficiency within the accounting function.
  • Complete special projects and additional accounting responsibilities as required.
