The role of Senior Accountant is a dynamic position requiring excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, accuracy, planning, and strong interpersonal and computer skills.

Responsibilities of the Role

• Act as finance business partner to the Systems Engineering team to track and optimize project financials including revenues, gross margins, and cash flow.
• Monitor multiple project and department budgets to provide key financial metrics to department heads.
• Track spending for various government funding programs and prepare required financial reports.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, including consolidated financial statements.
• Assist in budget preparation, forecast updates, and variance analysis.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including account reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
• Serve as the main internal contact during audits with the company's audit firm.
• Assist with bi-weekly payroll entries to ensure accurate and timely processing.
• Monitor cash flow, analyze working capital, and review Accounts Receivable and Payable balances.
• Prepare and review various remittances and statutory filings.
• Assist with special projects such as software upgrades and ISO internal audits.

Education/Experience/Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business.
• CPA designation.
• 5+ years of experience in a Project Accounting role.
• Experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software is an asset.
• Previous experience with payroll software, such as ADP, is an asset.
• Strong communication skills and professionalism.
• Proactive attitude and initiative-taking.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Effective prioritization and timely task execution.
• Strong analytical finance and accounting skills with an understanding of business strategy and processes to enhance performance.
