Duties

The Executive Director, Access to Information and Privacy (EDAIP) organization is responsible for delivering the Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Program, managing the full lifecycle of information requests from intake and analysis to review and disclosure. Through its work, the organization supports public trust, open government, and the protection of Canadians' privacy rights.The Senior ATIP Analyst leads the review and analysis of complex, high-profile access to information and privacy files while providing expert advice on legislative compliance, information disclosure, and privacy protection. The Senior ATIP Analyst collaborates with legal advisors, government partners, and senior stakeholders to resolve sensitive issues, interpret legislation and case law, and help shape departmental policies and practices. The Senior ATIP Analyst mentors junior team members and plays a key role in advancing transparency, accountability, and public trust across Canada's Defence Team.

EXPERIENCE EX1. Significant experience in the interpretation and application of the Access to Information Act or the Privacy Act, and related policy instruments as an ATIP Analyst.
EX2. Experience in researching, analyzing and reviewing files for the purpose of making recommendations to management on the application of legislation and related policies on files.
EX3. Experience consulting and negotiating with applicants, other government departments, third parties or internal partners.
EX4. Experience working on and resolving formal investigations received from the Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada or Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Significant experience is defined as having the depth and breath of experience that would normally be acquired while working in the field over a period of approximately three (3) years. Management is defined as Team Leaders or above.

K1. Knowledge of the federal Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act, and their regulations.
K2. Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of government departments and central agencies as it relates to ATIP as well as of the Information and Privacy Commissioners of Canada.
