Job summary

Lift Lea Forest is seeking a compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs within a thriving primary school. You will work alongside the class teacher and SEND team to tailor and reinforce learning, helping the pupil access activities and progress throughout the day.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people, ideally within a school or SEND setting.
• Understanding of SEND and how additional needs can affect a child's learning, communication and development.
• Ability to build a positive and trusting relationship with an individual pupil while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Be patient, calm and able to adapt your approach to the needs of the child.
• Be confident working closely with teachers, SEND colleagues and other professionals.
• Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Be enthusiastic about helping a child develop their confidence, independence and engagement with learning.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a caring, patient, and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join the team at Lift Lea Forest and support an individual pupil with additional needs.

About The Role

As our SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a specific pupil, providing consistent and individualised support throughout the school day.

Working alongside the class teacher and wider SEND team, you will help adapt and reinforce learning to meet the pupil's individual needs, support their engagement in classroom activities and deliver appropriate interventions where required. A key part of the role will be developing a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil, understanding how they learn and communicate best, and providing the encouragement, structure, and consistency they need to make progress.

You will also support their social and emotional development, promote positive interactions with their peers and encourage increasing independence.

Position Details

This is a 32.5-hour-per-week position, on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2026, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate. The role is available for an immediate start.
