Job summary

Walmart Canada in Fergus, ON is seeking a Self-Checkout Attendant to assist customers at the self-checkout area and provide friendly service during transactions. You will maintain the checkout area, promote programs, and help customers with self-checkout.

Key duties include responding to EAS alerts, managing Scan & Go equipment, and accommodating variable shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized self checkout area, ensuring it remains free of fixtures, unnecessary debris, foreign objects, and spills.
• Supports the promotion of company sponsored programs, including credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable initiatives, when applicable.
• Helps customers use self checkout quickly and confidently by offering assistance when needed, monitoring activity, and completing required checks. Clearly explain any interventions in a friendly, reassuring way and escape cash or technical issues to the Customer Service Manager.
• Responds to EAS alarms in accordance with procedures and accurately completes the "Failure to Deactivate" log.
• Ensures Scan & Go scanners are returned to their designated storage locations after use.
• Be open to working a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs. Your adaptability helps ensure the store runssmoothlyand customers receive consistent, high-quality service.
