Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Commercial Installer to install, test, and commission Integrated Security systems on client sites in Canada. You will dismantle and reassemble equipment as required, ensuring safety and adherence to schematics. Travel with provided vehicle is required for projects of varying sizes.

The role emphasizes teamwork, mentorship, and delivering reliable security solutions with a strong safety culture and customer service focus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Some technical school training is a plus.
  • Electrical and electronic equipment experience with mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.
  • Must obtain reliability clearance.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).

Responsibilities

  • Install devices and configure integrated security systems on site.
  • Dismantle and reconstruct equipment as needed.
  • Work safely to prevent injuries and debris.
  • Verify installation schedule with customers.
  • Prepare estimates per supervisor instructions.
  • Follow wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.
  • Test system operation to the control center.
  • Read building blueprints; may lead teams on large projects.
  • Mentor less experienced installers.

What you will do

As a critical part of the team, the Commercial Installer works onsite with our commercial customers to set up and program their Integrated Security security systems. The Commercial Installer also dismantles and reconstructs equipment when necessary.

How you will do it
  • Installs appropriate devices; dismantles and reconstructs equipment as required by customer or Tyco Integrated Security.

  • Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.

  • Contacts customers prior to the date of scheduled installation to verify schedule.

  • Prepares estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions of supervisor.

  • Follows proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.

  • Test’s operation of system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.

  • Reads building blueprints as required.

  • May lead installation teams on larger projects as required.

  • Coach and mentor less experienced installers.

  • Travel required, using provided company vehicle and equipment.

What we look for
Required
  • A high school diploma or G.E.D.

  • Some technical school training is a plus.

  • Electrical and electronic equipment experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.

  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.

  • Ability to always operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner.

  • Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.

  • Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking skills.

  • Must be able to obtain the reliability clearance required to meet business needs.

Preferred
  • Networking Certification.

  • Access Control certifications.

  • CCTV certifications.

  • Experience bending conduit.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $25.00-$32.00 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
