Job summary

Saint Mary’s University in Halifax seeks a dedicated Security Officer to join the Facilities Management team. The role involves responding to emergencies, patrolling the campus, providing dispatch support, enforcing policies, and training new personnel.

Ideal candidates hold a Canadian Security Program certification, CPR/First Aid, and two years of security experience; strong teamwork and communication are essential. AMFR training may be provided by the employer.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduation.
  • Certificate from a Recognized Canadian Security Program or acceptable combination of training, education and/or experience.
  • CPR, Emergency First Aid.
  • Two years' experience in security.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a positive manner conveying and responding to information.
  • Ability to interact with customers in a positive working relationship.
  • Ability to work alone and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to take initiative in completing tasks with minimal instruction.
  • Ability to perform duties in a safe manner, following health and safety legislation and all required safe work practices and procedures, in order to minimize the risk of injury and property damage.
  • Ability and willingness to successfully complete Advanced Medical First Responder (AMFR) training (provided by the employer).

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency calls,

Job Information And Responsibilities
