Job summary

Paladin Security is hiring casual Security Officers to cover Summer events at Saint Mary's University in Halifax. Shifts are as-needed, typically 4–6 hours, with day and night coverage.

Officers patrol, respond to incidents, investigate suspicions, enforce policies, provide First Aid, monitor cameras, and assist with training. Education includes a high school diploma, Nova Scotia security license, and First Aid/CPR-C certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Intermediate First Aid/CPR-C certification is required.
• English fluency (oral and written) is mandatory.
• Ability to obtain Nova Scotia security license is required.
• Valid driver's license is an asset.
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and MOAB are preferred or training available.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the building, facilities and exterior grounds.
• Respond to incidents and assist in emergency situations.
• Conduct investigations and file incident reports and logs.
• Manage door locks and monitor for unsecured doors.
• Enforce site policies and document non-compliance.
• Provide First Aid response and assist community members as needed.

Job description

Site Description: Paladin is hiring casual security officers to work at various locations around the Halifax Regional Municipality to cover Summer events.

Position: Casual Security Officer

Site: Saint Mary's University

Hours: As needed; Shifts can be anywhere between 4-6 hours, day and night shifts

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrol the building, facilities and exterior grounds
• Respond to incidents and play an active role in all emergency situations
• Conduct investigations re: thefts, break and enter, suspicious persons, accidents, vandalism, etc and complete incident reports, occurrence logs or appropriate documentation
• Complete door locks/unlocks as required; monitor for unsecure doors
• Enforce site's policy as per assigned and document all non-compliance.
• Provide assistance, as necessary, to community members'
• Assist in orientation and training of new security personnel, as required.
• Provide First Aid response.
• Conduct ID checks, as required.
• Monitor surveillance cameras, as required.
• Other related duties and assignments, as delegated by the Paladin Client Service Manager.
• Parking Duties may be required.

Prerequisites:

• Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
• Must currently hold a valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
• Valid Driver's License and personal vehicle are considered asset.
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
