Job summary

Commissionaires Great Lakes in Toronto seeks a backfill guard to support client sites with access control, reporting, and security operations. You will monitor CCTV, respond to alarms, and assist staff and visitors while maintaining a professional appearance and adherence to company policies.

The role requires a valid Ontario Security Guard License, First Aid/CPR, and Level II clearance, with the ability to stand long hours, lift up to 25 lbs, and operate security technology.

Qualifications

• Ontario Security Guard License is mandatory.
• First Aid and CPR certificate required (WSIB).
• Level II (Secret) Clearance required (Canada resident 10+ years, clean record).
• Must pass CGL Use of Force certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain access control and security of client property.
• Monitor CCTV systems and respond to alarms.
• Provide assistance to employees, clients and visitors.
• Complete daily logs and reports.
• Conduct patrols and uphold safety standards.
• Assist Regional Manager and site supervisor.
• Report on incidents and maintain professional conduct.

INTRODUCTION:

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well-being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking aCommissionaire to join our growing team as a backfill guard. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ensure access control is followed and client property is secured
• Monitor CCTV equipment
• Provide assistance to employees, clients and visitors
• Complete reporting requirements, daily logs and written reports as necessary
• Conduct patrols
• Assist the Regional Security Officer and site supervisor
• Conflict resolution
• Knowledge of company policies
• Prepares and conducts training for new hires and current staff including training on workplace searches and related safety and security topics.
• Maintain positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors and clients
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and deportment
• Respond to alarms and utilization of alarm panels
• Should stay back over the scheduled hours if court is still running. After completion checking and securing all the doors on the floor assigned.
• Other duties as may be required by the client or Regional Manager

• *Mandatory*– Valid WSIB accredited First Aid and CPR certificate
• *Mandatory*– Must be able to obtain a Level II (Secret) Clearance(resident in Canada 10 years or longer, clean record, clean credit history)
• Must be able to pass the CGL Use of Force certification
• X-Ray and Hand Held Metal Detector knowledge will be required
• Ability to stand/sit for a longer period of time.
• Ability to lift up to 25lbs items.
• Strong understanding of computers
• Strong customer service/administrative skills

• Hours of work: 0830-1630 (Mon-Fri) as backfills
