Job summary

Commissionaires Great Lakes seeks a full-time Commissionaire to provide security at a public library in Midland, Ontario. The role requires standing and walking for long periods, performing access control, and patrolling multiple floors while maintaining a professional demeanor.

Candidates must hold an Ontario Security Guard License, valid First Aid and CPR, and a Vulnerable Sector Check, with strong customer service and communication skills in English. French is an asset.

Qualifications

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have Ontario Security Guard License.
• Must have valid First Aid and CPR certificate.
• Must have Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods and patrol 4 floors of a library.
• Fluent English; French is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide security guard services at the public library and related sites.
• Control access and escort visitors as required.
• Escort trespassers off the premises as needed.
• Perform washroom and paraphernalia checks; maintain logs and reports.
• Maintain professional appearance and customer service at all times.
• Respond to alarms and monitor alarm panels; complete daily logs.

INTRODUCTION

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR

• Security Guard at the public library
  
• Ensuring access control is followed and client property is secured, escorting visitors as needed
• Escorting trespassers off property (high unhoused population in and around building, must be comfortable with these sorts of interactions)
• Washroom checks, paraphernalia checks
• Maintaining positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors and clients
• Maintaining high standards of personal appearance and deportment
• Responding to alarms and utilization of alarm panels
• Completing daily logs and written reports as necessary
• Ability to walk/stand for a longer period of time, consistently patrolling 4 floors of library and outside
  
• Other duties as may be required by the client or site supervisor

• Job type: Full-Time
• Rate of Pay: $20.35 per hour
• Working Hours: Monday 1000 to 1800 hrs; Tuesday to Thursday 1000 to 2000 hrs
  
• Location: 320 King Street, Midland, Ontario
