Job summary

Commissionaires Great Lakes in Gravenhurst, Ontario seeks a front-line Commissionaire to support client sites with outdoor and indoor patrols, ensuring safety and compliance with client rules. The role requires a valid Ontario Security Guard Licence, WSIB First Aid/CPR, and the ability to obtain a Reliability (Level I) clearance.

English fluency is essential; French is a plus. PPE is provided and duties include logs, escorting, and customer service.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Ontario Security Guard Licence.
• Must hold a WSIB First Aid and CPR certificate.
• Must be able to obtain Reliability (Level I) Security Clearance (5 years of residency in Canada).
• Must wear PPE as required by client; able to stand/walk for long periods and work outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Escort contractors as required.
• Observe contractor tools and vehicles to ensure they are kept away from inmates.
• Ensure contractors adhere to regulations.
• Maintain positive attitude and professional relationships with employees, visitors and clients.
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and deportment.
• Provide assistance to employees, clients and visitors.
• Complete daily logs and written reports as necessary.
• Conduct interior and exterior patrols of the property.
• Job duties primarily take place outdoors.

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• Responsibilities of this role may include, but are not limited to:
  • Escorting contractors as required
  • Observe contactor tools and vehicles to make sure they are kept safely away from the inmates
  • Ensuring contractors adhere to the regulations
  • Maintain positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors and clients
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and deportment.

  • Other duties as may be required by the client or site supervisor

• *MUST*be able to obtain a Reliability (Level I) Security Clearance (requires 5 years of residency in Canada)
• *MUST*Comfortable wearing PPE specified by client such as hard hat and safety boots
• Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time
• Ability to complete frequent patrols
• Ability to work outdoors regardless of weather conditions
• Ability to speak/read/communicate in English (fluently), ability to speak French is consider an asset
