Allied Universal is seeking a vigilant Security Guard for a high-profile retail location in Downtown Toronto. You will maintain a professional security presence, deter theft, and engage with customers and staff to ensure a safe shopping experience.

The ideal candidate brings 1–2 years of security experience, holds a valid Ontario Security Guard Licence, and has First Aid & CPR certification. Excellent communication and de-escalation skills are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional and visible security presence throughout the retail environment.
• Support loss prevention and theft deterrence initiatives.

• Respond professionally to security incidents, safety concerns, and calls for assistance.
• Build positive working relationships with retail associates, management, customers, and other stakeholders.
• Provide professional customer service and assistance when required.
• Support store policies and site-specific security procedures.
• Conduct regular patrols of the store and designated areas.
• Monitor entrances, exits, and other designated areas as required.
• Assist with incident investigations and provide accurate documentation.
• Complete detailed incident reports, daily activity reports, and other required documentation.

Security Guard – Retail Loss Prevention

Location: Downtown Toronto
Pay Rate: $22.00 - $23.00 per hour
Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Thursday, Friday & Saturday: 1130-2130 | Sunday: 1130-1930

Overview:

Allied Universal is seeking an energetic, confident, and customer-focused Security Guard to provide security and loss prevention services at a high-profile retail location in Downtown Toronto.

The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and secure environment for customers and associates while representing the location in a professional manner.

We are looking for someone who is outgoing, proactive, dependable, and comfortable engaging with customers and retail associates. The ideal candidate will have strong situational awareness and the ability to respond confidently to security concerns while maintaining a positive customer-first approach.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain a professional and visible security presence throughout the retail environment.
• Support loss prevention and theft deterrence initiatives.
• Monitor customer and associate activity and identify suspicious or unusual behaviour.
• Respond professionally to security incidents, safety concerns, and calls for assistance.
• Build positive working relationships with retail associates, management, customers, and other stakeholders.
• Provide professional customer service and assistance when required.

• Support emergency procedures and contact emergency services when required.
• Work collaboratively with store management and Allied Universal supervisors to maintain a safe and secure environment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Minimum 1-2 years of security experience, preferably in a retail or customer-facing environment.
• Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence.
• Valid First Aid & CPR Certification.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Confident, energetic, and outgoing personality.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong observation and situational awareness.
• Ability to interact comfortably with customers and retail associates.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

• Previous retail security or loss prevention experience.
• Experience working in a high-volume retail environment.
• Experience interacting with customers in a premium or fashion retail setting.
• Strong customer service background.
• Experience handling theft, suspicious activity, or challenging customer interactions.
• Ability to represent the brand and store environment in a professional and positive manner.
