Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Guard for a high-volume retail location in North York, ON. The role focuses on theft prevention, access control, monitoring, and incident response, delivering professional customer service and maintaining a safe environment for employees and shoppers.

Applicants should have 1–2 years of security experience, a valid Ontario Security Guard License, First Aid & CPR, and the ability to stand for long shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a highly visible security presence throughout the retail location.
• Deter and respond to theft, unauthorized activity, vandalism and other security concerns.
• Monitor the premises and identify suspicious or unusual activity.
• Conduct regular patrols of designated areas.
• Respond promptly to incidents and calls for service.
• Provide professional customer service and assistance to customers, employees, and visitors.
• Support loss prevention and theft deterrence procedures.
• Enforce site-specific security policies and procedures.
• Assist with access control and monitor entry/exit points.
• De-escalate and manage difficult situations professionally.
• Complete accurate incident reports and logs.
• Identify and report safety hazards and security concerns.
• Contact emergency services when required and assist with response procedures.
• Collaborate with site management and Allied Universal supervisors.

Location: North York, ON
Pay Rate: $21.00 to 22.40 per hour
Schedule: Thursday, Friday & Saturday: 1000–2130 | Sunday: 1100–1830

Overview:

Allied Universal is seeking professional, alert, and customer-focused Security Guards to provide tactical security services at a high-volume retail location in North York.

This position is suited for security professionals who are comfortable working in a busy retail environment and maintaining a strong, visible security presence throughout their shift.

The successful candidate will be responsible for theft prevention, access control, monitoring, incident response, customer assistance, and maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, customers, and visitors.

This position requires standing and remaining active for extended periods throughout the shift.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain a highly visible security presence throughout the retail location.
• Deter and respond to theft, unauthorized activity, vandalism, and other security concerns.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Minimum 1–2 years of security experience, preferably in a retail, commercial, or high-traffic environment.
• Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
• Valid First Aid & CPR Certification.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong observation and situational awareness skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional during challenging situations.
• Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
• Ability to write clear and accurate incident reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous retail security or loss prevention experience.
• Experience working in a high-volume retail environment.
• Experience dealing with theft, trespassing, aggressive behaviour, or other security-related incidents.
• Tactical security experience.
• Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills.
