Job Description

Allied Universal is seeking Professional Security Guards - Retailin Canada.

We are currently seeking qualified security professionals to join our team in a retail environment. Thisposition involves security responses to a varied array of “calls for service” as well as providefirst responder services for security and life safety emergencies and incidents.

Retail Security Guards

Full time & Part time - Permanent

Location: Etobicoke - Dundas area

Pay rate: $19.00 $20.00 per hour

Must have a valid Security Guard License

Must have a First Aid/ CPR certificate

2+ years of security experience in high profile environments

Excellent customer service and deescalation skills

Responsibilities Include:• Prepare complete, accurate and factual reports for all reportable incidents• Respond to a varied array of “calls for service” as well as provide first responder services for allsecurity and life safety emergencies and incidents.• Enforcement of applicable criminal code and legislative statutes, as directed.• Conduct general as well as focused patrols (interior and exterior) looking for hazards, buildingdeficiencies, insecure premises, criminal or prohibited activity, suspicious persons, suspiciousactivities, items, or vehicles.• Provide access control and the monitoring of pedestrian and/or vehicle traffic• Identify security and building deficiencies, safety hazards• Alarm Response• Provide access control where applicable, to include managing access for contractors and deliverypersonnel.• Dispatch security personnel to respond to non-emergency and emergency calls for service.Contact emergency services (police, fire, ambulance)

Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications:• Relevant University and/or College Diploma• Minimum two or more of work-related experience, preferably in the Security or protective servicesindustry• Proficiency in MS• Knowledge of CCTV systems, access control systems and monitoring of alarms• Experience in critical environments where decision making, and actions can impact life-safety andbusiness continuity• The ability to problem-solve by active listening

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• Be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
• Possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner
• Licensing requirements are subject to province and/or local laws and regulations and will be required prior to employment.
• As a condition of employment, employee must successfully complete a background check
• Display exceptional customer service and communication skills
• Have intermediate computer skills to operate innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites
• Ability to handle crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently
• Able to:
  • Work in various environments such as cold weather, rain/snow or heat
  • Occasionally lift or carry up to 20 kilograms
  • Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift
  • Stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time
