Job summary

Commissionaires Great Lakes is seeking a Commissionaire for an outdoor security role at 1127 Sheppard Ave W, North York. The weekend shift runs Saturday to Sunday from midnight to noon, with an hourly wage of $22.

The job requires an Ontario Security Guard License, First Aid/CPR, and the ability to obtain Level II Secret Clearance. Responsibilities include access control, CCTV monitoring, incident reporting, and patrolling; you will liaise with emergency services when needed and wear safety

Qualifications

• Ontario Security Guard License is a must.
• Valid First Aid & CPR certificate required.
• Must be able to obtain Level II Secret Clearance (Canadian residency 10+ years, clean record).
• Ability to work in outdoor construction settings and varying weather conditions.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with tablet/iPad usage.
• Ability to stand, sit, and walk for long periods.
• Ability to complete frequent patrols.
• Safety boots must be worn at all times on site.
• Ability to lift up-to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Enforce access control policies and secure client property.
• Monitor CCTV cameras to ensure client security.
• Maintain professional conduct and positive relationships with staff, visitors, and clients.
• Complete site reports, daily logs, and written incident reports.
• Respond to alarms and requests for assistance.
• Perform regular interior and exterior foot patrols and parking lot monitoring.
• Liaise with Police, Fire, EMS as needed during incidents.
• Adapt schedule to meet team and site needs.
• Complete all training assignments promptly.

INTRODUCTION

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR

• Ensure access control policies and procedures are followed and client property is secured
• Monitor CCTV cameras
• Maintain positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors and clients
• Complete site reporting requirements, daily logs and written reports
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and deportment
• Maintain effective communication
• Respond to alarms and calls for assistance
• Provide assistance to employees, clients and visitors
• Perform regular interior and exterior foot patrols
• Prolong standing, sitting and walking is required
• Monitoring and foot patrolling of parking lot
• Enforce the Trespass to Property Act when required
• Complete patrol and incident reports utilizing reporting software, and paper reports as required
• Sign visitors in and out along with ID checks
• Report concerns or complaints received to Supervisor or Manager
• Be available to adjust schedule as required to accommodate the needs of the team.
• Undertake all training assigned to you in a timely fashion.
• Maintain professionalism at all times, during all interactions.
• Liaise with Police, Fire, EMS as appropriate during incidents.
• Other duties as may be required by the client or site supervisor

• *MUST* Ontario Security Guard License
• *MUST* Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
• *MUST* Have the ability to obtain Level II Secret Clearance (resident in Canada 10 years or longer, clean record, clean credit history)
• Must be comfortable working in outdoor construction settings and varying weather conditions.
• Strong computer skills and knowledge of usage of tablet/iPad is required
• Ability to stand/sit/walk for long periods of time
• Ability to complete frequent patrols
• Must wear safety boots at all times on site
• Ability to lift up-to 25 lbs
