Securitas Canada Limited in the Strathmore area is hiring a Security Guard for a full-time overnight shift (Mon–Wed and alternate Sunday) from 2000 to 0800. The role focuses on protecting people and property through observation, patrols, access control, and rapid incident response.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports activities and incidents at the client site to protect property and personnel.
• Makes periodic patrols to inspect devices, hazards, and security controls.

• Patrols on foot or vehicle and checks for safety issues and unauthorized persons.
• Provides excellent customer service while minimizing risk to client assets.
• Monitors intrusion detection and CCTV systems and alarms.
• Responds to incidents following site procedures and training.

SECURITY GUARD - FULL TIME POSITION

Location: Strathmore area

Overnight shifts: Monday to Wednesday and alternate Sunday from 2000 to 0800

$18.00 – pay rate per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property, its assets, and personnel.
• Makes periodic patrols to check for irregularities and to inspect protective devices and fire control equipment.
• Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.
• Controls access to client sites or facility through the admittance process.
• Patrols assigned sites on foot or in vehicles; checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked entrances and exits, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons.
• Satisfies client needs by providing excellent customer service while minimizing risk to the client's property and assets.
• Monitors intrusion detection systems using automated alarm and video monitoring software.
• Use computer systems and software to monitor sites and complete basic training.
• Maintains focus and awareness while working in a stressful environment, which includes noise from alarms, machinery and people, crowd distractions, time pressure, in order to preserve the professional ability to identify and locate potentially life-threatening situations and make effective decisions in both crisis and routine situations.
• Protect evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations.
• Conducts inbound/outbound package inspections.
• Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents or conditions following procedures established for the site and commensurate with their level of training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have valid provincial Security Guard License
• Working knowledge of security operations and procedures
• Proven excellent English language skills, both verbal and written
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Able to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports.
• Basic computer skills such a the ability to use Microsoft Office.
• Able to conduct lengthy interior and exterior patrols, climbing stairs and walking up inclines
• Must have excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Sensitive to the nature of the shelter and the experiences of residents
• Able to engage with residents in a respectful, non-judgmental manner
• Ability to handle stressful situations with tact and diplomacy
• Capable of using CCTV system
• First Aid/ CPR is considered an asset.
