Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a Security Guard to join the Cambridge Memorial Hospital security team on a full-time basis. The role focuses on patrols, incident response, and assisting staff and visitors.

You will maintain logs and reports, support with Use of Force procedures, and ensure safety across hospital grounds. A valid First Aid/CPR, immunization records, and English proficiency are required; UOF training can be provided as part of onboarding.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year security experience in healthcare settings.
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C.
• Proof of up-to-date immunizations for Covid-19, Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, Tdap, Hepatitis B, and TB skin test.
• Proficient in English (oral and written).
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Perform proactive and reactive security patrols and incident response.
• Provide excellent customer service to staff and visitors under stress.
• Maintain physical fitness to stand and walk for long periods.
• Record logs, write reports, and review CCTV footage as required.
• Provide Use of Force and crowd management as directed.
• Escort staff and visitors and assist with vehicle-related duties.

Job Description:

• Working on assigned shifts, you will provide proactive and reactive security patrols and response to incidents.
• Display excellent customer service skills and be able to work with people who are under stress or in need of medical assistance.
• In this role, it is essential that you are physically fit and able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Perform a variety of preventative and reactive duties to include, but not limited to interior and exterior patrols within the hospital as well as exterior of all buildings and areas of the organization.
• Provide Use of Force/Restraint as required and directed under the Mental Health Act
• Provide security escort service to staff and visitors as requested.
• Provide motor vehicle assistance to staff and or visitors as required.
• Accountable for keeping accurate logs and notebook entries of all shift activity and calls for service.
• Accountable to write accurate reports upon investigations or reportable occurrences in timely manner upon completion of occurrence.
• Investigate and follow-up of incidents, report writing, door opening requests, CCTV camera reviews.
• Security Guards shall warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary.
• Responsible for all office duties (i.e. ID badges, key distribution, lost and found etc.)

Requirements:

• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C (WSIB approved provider)
• Proof of up to date immunization records for Covid 19, Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, Tdap, Hepatitis B, and 2 step TB skin test
• Must be willing to complete N95 Mask fit testing during the training
• Minimum 1 year security experience in healthcare settings
• Proficient in English (both oral and written)
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services is an asset
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force and Management of Aggressive Behavior
• Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force/Management of Aggressive Behavior certification program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Legally authorized to work in Canada

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability.
