Job summary

Guardteck Security is hiring a Full Time Security Controller for the Calgary site. Successful candidates will demonstrate exceptional customer service, problem-solving, and sound decision-making abilities.

Reporting to the Security Manager/Supervisor, you will monitor access control, CCTV, and fire systems; relay incident notifications, coordinate with contractors, and ensure quick emergency responses. A Alberta security license and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Valid Alberta Security License.
  • Experience as SOC operator or security desk monitoring officer in executive or high-profile corporate buildings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Able to multitask and stay calm under pressure.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Team-oriented and able to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficient with Windows-based systems and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor security and fire systems, including access control, CCTV, and fire panels.
  • Receive and relay notifications of security incidents from all departments.
  • Notify emergency services to ensure access to location.
  • Monitor system performance and report deficiencies to the Security Supervisor.
  • Track the location and activities of security officers on shift.
  • Interact with the public, tenants and contractors regarding inquiries.
  • Coordinate activities of third-party contractors, including ID badges and safety monitoring.
  • Share concerns and improvement ideas with the supervisory team.

Position Summary

Guardteck Security is hiring Full TimeSecurity Controller for one of the Calgary Site. Successful candidates will demonstrate exceptional skills in customer service, effective problem-solving, and making sound decisions.

Position Requirement

Reporting directly to the Security Manager/Supervisor, the Security Controller will:

  • Monitor security and fire systems; including but not limited to the access control and CCTV Systems and fire panel/Fireworks systems
  • Receive notifications of security incidents and issues from all departments
  • Relay notifications of incidents, issues etc. to the appropriate departments
  • Notify emergency services to ensure services have immediate access to location
  • Monitor the performance of security system elements and report deficiencies to Security Supervisor
  • Track the location and activities of all security officers assigned to their shift
  • Regular dealings with the public, tenants and contractors regarding Lost and Found, Access Control and other security/operations-related inquiries.
  • Coordinate the activities of third-party contractors, from initial issue of ID badges to the monitoring of work practices to ensure optimum life safety.
  • Communicates with Supervisory team any concerns and process improvement ideas or other opportunities for improvement to the team.
What you should have
  • Valid Alberta Security License.
  • Security Monitoring experience:Minimum of 1 year experienceas security operations center operator or security desk monitoring officer in executive or high-profile corporate buildings.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication capabilities and capable of accurately capturing and relaying information
  • Communication Skills: Able to critically think and multitask at a high level.
  • Able to keep a calm, cool and professional demeanour at all times especially during emergency situations.
  • Excellent Customer service skills
  • Comfortable working in a team environment
  • Computer literacy: Minimum of intermediate level competency with Windows-based computer systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) software
