Job summary

Coast Hotels Limited in Victoria is seeking a Second Cook to assist in food preparation, maintain quality and presentation, and deliver exceptional service in a fast-paced kitchen.

You will handle mise en place, stock rotation, and collaborate with the culinary leadership to meet Coast's standards while working flexibly including evenings, weekends and holidays.

A high school diploma plus Food Safe Level I and WHMIS are required; strong English communication and team orientation are essential.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of high school, with a commitment to obtaining the Inter-Provincial Trade Qualifications
• The following certifications are required: Food Safe Level I, WHMIS
• Hepatitis A vaccination recommended
• Self-motivated team player with interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
• Good customer service philosophy
• Good communication skills in English
• Able to meet physical demands (standing, lifting up to 30 lbs)

Responsibilities

• Works a variety of shifts & stations
• Ensures food preparation and service delivery standards are consistently achieved
• Ensures quality, quantity and presentation of all food prepared
• Manages daily requisitioning, receiving, storage and rotation of mise en place
• Prepares, cooks and presents food as outlined in menus and build sheets
• Adheres to food safety regulations, hygiene and cleanliness
• Maintains security and control of food stocks to minimize wastage
• Carrys out other duties as assigned by Culinary leadership team
