Job summary

Metro Toronto Convention Centre in downtown Toronto is seeking a skilled Second Cook to support functions with high-quality, timely food preparation.

Reporting to the Sous Chefs, you will set up all food preparations, follow standardized recipes and sanitation standards, and assist with events while maintaining teamwork and service excellence.

The role requires culinary college training, 2–3 years of professional experience, and a positive, customer-centric approach to guest service.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from Culinary college
  • 2-3 years of professional culinary experience
  • Completion of apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Strong culinary skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Outstanding customer service skills with a can-do attitude
  • Basic computer skills
  • Detail oriented, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Work well under pressure, both independently, and as team members

Responsibilities

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow colleagues.
  • Review the daily production sheets and prepare necessary food items in accordance with standards in a timely and efficient fashion
  • Adhere to standardized recipes and specifications in order to maintain consistency and ensure all standards are met.
  • Functional knowledge of kitchen areas including classic working stations coupled with fine operational skills in preparation and execution of modern cuisine
  • Assists with social parties, banquets and special events
  • Ensures kitchen is clean and sanitary and is in compliance with all provincial requirements

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Kitchen Department is currently looking for a Second Cook. This position involves delegating tasks and ensuring high quality preparation of all food items in a timely manner. The successful candidate is a dedicated, passionate individual who is knowledgeable; customer service oriented and with al proven demonstrated abilities in a professional kitchen.

Reporting to the Sous Chefs, you are an enthusiastic, organized, service oriented individual. Duties will include setting up all food preparations for functions according to MTCC culinary and food sanitation standards.
