Job summary

City of Edmonton seeks an Outdoor Program Leader for Recreation Technician I, up to 5 months with extension potential. You’ll design and lead outdoor day camps, school field trips, and community programs across winter expeditions, adventure sports, wilderness skills, and navigation activities.

Strong communication and safety skills are essential. Role requires Grade 12, public engagement experience, and certifications in safety/wilderness activities.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 completion or equivalent education/experience.
• Experience working with the general public, children, youth, and diverse participants.

Responsibilities

• Winter Expeditions: cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice biking, and kicksledding.
• Adventure Sports: cycling, Paddle Canada canoeing, and archery sessions.
• Wilderness Skills: shelter building, fire building, and outdoor survival basics.
• Navigation & Science: orienteering, GPS navigation, and environmental challenges.
• Community Engagement: direct outdoor day camps and outreach across the city.
• Other duties as required.
