Job summary

City of Edmonton is seeking a Heritage Education Program Assistant to support high-volume heritage and education programming across Fort Edmonton Park and John Walter Museum. You will supervise and coach seasonal Education Interpreters, manage day camps and field trips, and collaborate with multiple teams to ensure seamless experiences for school groups, families, and participants.

Qualifications

  • Completion of the first year of a recognized degree in Education, History, Native Studies, Arts and Cultural Management, or Recreation.
  • Minimum 1 year of practical experience in teaching, program delivery, interpretation, or a related museum/heritage field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, onboard, coach, and support Recreation Technician I Education Interpreters.
  • Assist with seasonal recruitment, including interviewing candidates and participating in hiring decisions.
  • Schedule weekly educational programs, Fort School, day camps, birthday parties, and group activities.
  • Manage program supply procurement and administration for all educational initiatives.
  • Review Recreation Technician I timesheets biweekly.
  • Coordinate day camp and field trip bookings, monitor attendance reports.
  • Draft social media content for programs.
