Job summary

The Pictou County Wellness Centre is seeking a Part-Time Seasonal Arena Operator to help operate, maintain, and clean the arena and surrounding facilities for the ice season.

The role focuses on safe, welcoming environments for users, handling events and rentals, and providing excellent customer service in a busy community venue.

Qualifications

• Experience in arena or facility maintenance is an asset.
• Experience operating a Zamboni is preferred; training may be provided.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Able to perform physically demanding work including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Reliable, dependable and safety-conscious.

The Pictou County Wellness Centre is currently accepting applications for Part-Time Seasonal Arena Operators to join our operations team for the upcoming ice season. Position Summary

Reporting to the Facility Sales & Operations Manager, the Part-Time Seasonal Arena Operator is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of the arena and surrounding facility. This role helps ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all users while supporting a variety of events and activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the Zamboni and related arena equipment.
• Prepare and maintain quality ice surfaces for scheduled rentals and events.
• Maintain cleanliness of dressing rooms, public areas, and arena spaces.
• Set up and tear down for events, rentals, and community programs.
• Provide courteous and professional customer service to facility users.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Previous arena or facility maintenance experience is considered an asset.
• Experience operating a Zamboni is preferred; training could be provided to the successful candidate.
