Job summary

The Town of Allan seeks a Seasonal Recreation Facilities Maintenance Operator to join our team. You will manage arena ice operations, maintain ice quality, and assist with events and facility upkeep.

Responsibilities include operating the resurfacer, HVAC and mechanical systems, basic repairs, and ensuring safety standards for users and staff. Seasonal, full‑time, with a focus on reliable, hands‑on maintenance.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence.
• Arena Operator Level 1 Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
• Basic knowledge of refrigeration systems and general facility maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, flood, scrape, edge, and maintain ice surfaces.
• Operate and maintain the ice resurfacer (Zamboni or equivalent).
• Paint and install ice markings as required.
• Monitor and maintain ice quality throughout the season.
• Operate and monitor refrigeration, heating, ventilation, and mechanical systems.
• Complete daily operational inspections and maintenance logs.
• Report equipment issues and perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Assist with seasonal facility setup and shutdown.
• Clean dressing rooms, washrooms, lobby areas, spectator seating, offices and common areas.
• Remove snow and ice from entrances and emergency exits.
• Perform minor carpentry, plumbing, painting, and maintenance tasks.
• Maintain arena equipment and tools.
• Ensure health and safety standards are met; respond to emergencies and complete incident reports.
• Provide courteous customer service to facility users; assist user groups and events.

Qualifications
