Summary

AGAT Laboratories is currently looking for an entry-level Laboratory Technician to join our Inorganics/Environmental lab working out of our Calgary, Alberta facility. This position reports to the Laboratory Supervisor and assists with administrative and basic laboratory services.

Please note this is a seasonal position with an anticipated end date of January 30th, 2025. For this position, weekend availability is required. The shift schedule will be Friday to Tuesday, with evening shifts from 11 AM to 7 PM.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Perform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples, reagents, and calibration solutions.
  • Support operations in the soil/salinity department for the preparation and extraction of soil samples.
  • Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning work stations, and waste disposal.
  • Calibrate, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot intermediate instruments.
  • Compile, verify, and validate accurate data records.
  • Meet quality assurance and turnaround time specifications.
  • Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Report results.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education with a Technical Diploma or Science Degree.
  • 0-2 years of previous laboratory work experience.
  • Intermediate computer skills with experience with MS Office and LIMS.
  • Good communication skills and fluency in English, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
  • Hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Mature work ethic, with the ability to work independently and in a team to meet goals collaboratively.
  • Capable of standing long hours and performing repetitive tasks in physically challenging environments.
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds as required.
