Summary

AGAT Laboratories is currently looking for an entry-levelLaboratory Technician to join our Inorganics/Environmentallab working out of our Calgary, Alberta facility.This position is given direction from the Laboratory Supervisor and assists with administrative and basic laboratory services.

Please note this is aseasonalposition with an anticipated end date of January30th 2025.For this position,weekend availabilityis required. Shift Scheduled will be Friday - Tuesdays,evening shifts from 11 AM - 7 PM.

What you will be doing:

  • Perform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples, reagents and calibration solutions.
  • Supporting operations in the soil/salinity department for the preparation and extraction of soil samples.
  • Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning work stations and waste disposal.
  • Calibrate, operate, maintain and troubleshoot intermediate instruments.
  • Compile, verify and validate accurate data records.
  • Meet quality assurance and turn around specifications.
  • Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Report results.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education with a Technical Diploma or Science Degree.
  • 0-2 years previous laboratory work experience.
  • Intermediate computer skills with experience with MS office and LIMS.
  • Good communication skills and fluency in English both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
  • Hand-Eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Mature work ethic, with the ability to work independently and in a team to meet goals collaboratively.
  • Capable of standing long hours and performing repetitive tasks in physically challenging environments is a requirement for the position.
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds as required.
