Job summary

Elk Island Public Schools is seeking a permanent, full-time Education Assistant at F. R. Haythorne Junior High in Sherwood Park, AB, to support the SEAS program.

The Education Assistant assists teachers with instructional and non-instructional tasks, supervising students and helping with personal care as needed. The role requires an Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent, a High School Diploma, and at least two years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or comparable education would be an asset.
• Minimum required education is a High School Diploma.
• At least 2 years related experience with children or youth.
• First Aid certification is an asset.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset.
• Courses related to working with students with special needs are an asset.

• Provide student supervision and assist with personal, physical and medical care.
• Support programming and developmental/behavioral strategies under teacher direction.
