The Role
As a key member of cross-functional teams, the Scrum Master supports a portfolio of applications. This role involves working closely with teams to promote Agile methodologies and support them in understanding Agile theory, practices, rules, and values. The Scrum Master guides teams through their workflows to maximize value delivery and help them make effective decisions. Additionally, the Scrum Master determines and implements organizational improvements to enhance team collaboration and performance, inspiring teams to develop self-awareness and foster a learning culture that enables continuous growth on their Agile journey.
Key responsibilities
- Work with up to three agile teams responsible for coding, validation, debugging, reliability, performance analysis, and ongoing operations within the delivery system.
- Facilitate and plan all Scrum events with a focus on promoting Scrum practices and engagement in a positive manner.
- Collaborate with the Product Owner and Tech Lead to ensure the needs of the team are adequately addressed and obstacles in the team’s path are cleared.
- Track the team’s performance and metrics towards the sprint goals.
- Identify gaps and implement improvements to boost team collaboration and overall performance.
- Coach and guide teams toward self-organization and cultivate a collaborative culture that values problem-solving, constructive feedback, and healthy tension.
- Support teams in creating high-value increments that meet the Definition of Done (DoD).
- Identify and remove obstacles that hinder team progress.
- Foster collaboration between teams and stakeholders.
- Ensure teams remain focused on quality and continuous delivery.
- Stay informed about emerging Agile practices and propose innovations.
Key skills & Requirements- Completed an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of experience as a dedicated Scrum Master within cross-functional Agile teams, with a strong understanding of Agile principles and practices and a demonstrated ability to apply them effectively.
- Experience with scaling frameworks such as LeSS, Scrum at Scale, or SAFe is an asset.
- Experience using tools such as Azure DevOps is an asset.
- Prior experience working with teams across different time zones.
- Strong negotiation skills, with a readiness to both challenge and be challenged.
- Empathetic leadership with a growth mindset.
- Ability to effectively organize and manage day-to-day work and priorities, using time, energy, and resources to meet goals, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Ability to communicate in a respectful, positive, and constructive manner, even during times of challenge and frustration.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work, easily adjusting to shifts in priorities as the needs of the business change.
- Ability to effectively work and thrive in a remote work environment with limited opportunities for in-person interactions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to a specific audience or situation, both upward and across.
- Comfortable providing coaching, guidance, and feedback to peers and senior management.

Work environment:A remote contract with opportunities to come into the Ontario office for team meetings. You will be expected to have a dedicated home office area to focus on work related activities and communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
