Job summary

CarbonRun is seeking a highly organized Research Coordination professional to manage grant activities, budgets, and reporting for climate R&D projects in Canada. You will support students and researchers, prepare scientific documents, and liaise with funding agencies and collaborators.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s degree in a related field, 5+ years in research coordination, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in science, environmental studies, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in research coordination or scientific support role.
• Experience with grant administration, budget tracking, or financial reporting in a research or non-profit environment.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with academic, government, and private-sector stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and project management tools (Notion, Asana, ClickUp).
• Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
• Proactive, self-directed working style with initiative to anticipate needs and follow through independently.
• Experience supporting scientific or technical teams in a government research environment.
• Familiarity with Canadian granting agencies (e.g., NSERC, ECCC, CIRNAC) and their reporting requirements.
• Experience coordinating student researchers or field programs.
• Proficiency in reference management tools (Zotero, Mendeley) or data management platforms.
• Comfort in a dynamic, early-stage organization with shifting priorities.
• Proficiency in French or another language is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support research grant management: strategize with the CSO, track timelines, prepare progress reports, and manage budgets.
• Coordinate onboarding of students, interns, and research assistants and assist with task assignments.
• Assist in preparation and formatting of scientific papers, reports, and regulatory submissions.
• Track receipts, support expense reporting for field work, and coordinate meetings with collaborators and funding partners.
• Serve as a point of contact between CSO, academic partners, government agencies, and funders to ensure alignment with priorities.
