Job Summary

The Renewable Energy Storage Laboratory ( RESL ) at Dalhousie University conducts research on energy storage technologies to support the increased integration of renewable energy with the electricity grid. The demands placed on the electricity grid by the principal sectors (residential, commercial, industrial) vary throughout the day. Renewable resources such as the wind, sun, and tides vary independently of demand, and consequently require energy storage to bridge the gap periods. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Program Coordinator supports effective development, administration, coordination, and communication of research activities within the research space. The role includes coordination of project operations, stakeholder engagement, knowledge mobilization, student engagement, grant administration, ongoing assessment, reporting, and policy and regulatory compliance to support successful research outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage research program activities, including tracking timelines, milestones, deliverables, and budgets while supporting program planning and adjustments in collaboration with investigators.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication across a broad network of researchers, students, and partners, ensuring timely information sharing and coordination of program activities.
  • Build and sustain relationships with academic, community, industry, government, and EDIA and Indigenous partners to support collaborative research initiatives and knowledge exchange.
  • Develop and manage communications and knowledge mobilization materials, translating research findings into accessible formats and curating content for web, newsletters, and social media.
  • Support research grant administration, including application preparation, reporting, financial tracking, and coordination with university and funding agency stakeholders.
  • Ensure efficient program operations and compliance, including coordinating events, supporting onboarding and lab activities, and maintaining documentation, data management, and safety requirements.

Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.

Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field with three to five years of progressively responsible administrative, project coordination, or program management experience, preferably in a research, government, or other complex organizational environment (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex research concepts in clear, accessible language and develop communications tailored to diverse audiences and platforms, including web content, newsletters, social media, reports, and other knowledge mobilization materials.
  • Demonstrated organizational, project coordination, and time management skills, as well as the ability to prioritize competing deadlines, and research program activities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience coordinating stakeholder engagement initiatives in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse partners, including academic, Indigenous communities, government, and industry, using respectful protocols and inclusive approaches.
Assets
  • Familiarity with research administration processes, grant funding environments, or university policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with Dalhousie University financial, graduate students, HR, and facilities management systems.
  • Familiarity with providing day-to-day operational support for a research laboratory, including coordinating laboratory activities, maintaining documentation, and supporting efficient and compliant research operations.
