Job summary

CarbonRun seeks a Senior CDR Analyst to lead LCA and geospatial analyses for river alkalinity projects. You will model feasibility, forecast costs, and run TEA scenarios to support scaling and optimization.

You will ensure inputs reflect real project parameters, create pre-validated LCA/TEA tools, and visualize results for multidisciplinary teams. Strong scripting skills (R/Python) and hydrology/LCA experience are required.

CarbonRun is a fast-growing, venture-backed climate technology company developing river alkalinity enhancement (RAE) projects that improve river health while generating high-integrity, durable carbon dioxide removal.

We partner with communities, utilities, conservation groups, and governments to restore ecosystems and deliver measurable climate impact. CarbonRun has early commercial projects currently operating and under construction, alongside a pipeline of projects in active development and pre-development across Canada and globally, supported by committed offtakes and capital partners to enable execution and growth.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Senior CDR Analyst to conduct Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), including geospatial analysis, to support both project planning (scaling), project optimization, research, and carbon dioxide removal quantification. This role will conduct cost forecasting, cost optimization, and scenario modelling, ensure accuracy and communicating results clearly through visualization and data summaries.

Position Purpose/Impact: Strengthens the economic viability, quantitative accuracy, and environmental responsibility of prospective projects by coding and maintaining and interfacing CarbonRun’s process model, geospatial data, LCA, and technoeconomic analysis (TEA).

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate model projections to assess project feasibility, determine the impact of potential operational decisions, and support project development, R&D, and innovation.


• Perform LCA calculations to support project planning and carbon dioxide removal quantification.


• Ensure model inputs are scientifically and technically realistic.


• Provide model and data visualization support.

Geospatial

• Conduct geospatial analysis of feedstock sources, river networks, monitoring sites, and land use for project planning; links these outputs with global GIS products for scaling analyses.


• Flags supply, operational or cost risks to projects.


• Forecasts capital expenditures for prospective projects as the science-side input into Business Development's overall capital expenditure and funding model.


• Identifies scenarios on how to achieve KPI goals

Model Governance & Data Integrity

• Run CarbonRun's process model to simulate project scenarios, ensuring that inputs accurately reflect real project parameters, flagging misconfigurations before they propagate into TEA outputs


• Create and maintain tools that let other team members run pre-validated LCA and TEA scenarios without altering the underlying scientific assumptions or model logic.


• Escalate supply shortfalls, cost risks, or material LCA/TEA findings — including assumption inconsistencies surfaced during validation — to the Senior Carbon Removal Scientist.

Decision Making and Autonomy

• Conducts independent analysis using established methods. Works with the broader team to ensure inputs and outputs are realistic and uncertainty is appropriately reflected.
