Job summary

Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) seeks a Library Technician to manage the Learning Commons in Convent Glen, providing digital services and supporting staff and students. The role includes promoting literacy, coordinating volunteers, and handling administrative tasks.

The position is part-time 0.50 FTE for 10 months with a salary reflective of full-time ranges; starting November 10, 2026, with benefits and a pension package.

Qualifications

• Degree/diploma in relevant field such as Library Technician or Information Science.
• 2 years of related experience as a library technician or in a similar role.
• Experience with Insignia or similar library software systems (or equivalent).
• Familiarity with Google Suite and basic AV equipment.
• Comfortable learning and promoting new technologies (3D printing, robotics, coding, Cricut).
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Operates the school Learning Commons and provides services in an automated/digital environment to meet the needs of staff and students.
• Promotes authors, books, literacy, technology and holds special events.
• Performs administrative functions associated with the Learning Commons and/or school.
• Coordinates volunteers activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
