Job summary

Halifax Regional Centre for Education is seeking a Custodian to contribute to the effective operation of the Operations Services Department in Halifax. The custodian cleans and maintains school buildings and facilities to a high standard, working proactively, safely and efficiently in line with policies.

The role reports to the Caretaker and Building Management Supervisor and requires the ability to lift 50 lbs, basic computer skills, and willingness to work day, evening, and night shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs to perform cleaning duties.
• Basic computer skills.
• Able to work day, evening and night shifts.
• Previous janitorial experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and maintenance duties in school buildings and facilities.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary and attractive appearance.
• Work under the direction of the Caretaker and Building Management Supervisor.
