Job summary

Sun West School Division is seeking a reliable School Bus Driver for Beechy Route 01. This permanent position starts as soon as possible and involves operating a school bus on designated routes, picking up students, and ensuring a safe environment.

The ideal candidate will have a valid S endorsement, a clean driving abstract, First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain), and strong communication skills. Split shifts and interaction with children are part of the role; compensation follows the CUPE

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with S endorsement.
• Acceptable 10-year driving abstract.
• First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
• Experience in driving or school transportation is an asset.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to stay calm and make sound decisions in stressful situations.
• Basic computer skills including email and reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a school bus along designated routes and schedules.
• Pick up and drop off students at assigned stops.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Ensure compliance with traffic laws and school transportation regulations.
• Maintain order and discipline on the bus.
• Assist students with boarding and exiting when required.
• Report delays, accidents, or mechanical issues promptly.
• Keep records of routes, incidents, and inspections.
• Communicate professionally with students, parents, and school staff.
