Job summary

Gibson Energy ULC in Calgary is seeking a Scheduler to coordinate and optimize internal Marketing schedules for crude oil movements and blending processes across Gibson terminals and pipelines.

You will develop daily movement schedules, build partnerships with shippers and producers, and identify value-enhancing opportunities to maximize profitability across Gibson Energy’s Infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in business (Commerce, Finance, Marketing, or Economics) is required.
• 1–3 years of experience in movement of product and related logistics, with knowledge of production practices and pipeline operations.
• Demonstrates strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks at one time.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain discretion.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work with teams.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets is essential.
• Knowledge of forecasting and reporting procedures within the industry.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute daily schedules for the movement of crude oil and other commodities, ensuring ratability, crude quality, and optimal operational efficiency.
• Develop and sustain robust customer relationships to enhance collaboration with Shippers, Producers, and Gibson’s Commercial Development and Marketing teams.
• Identify and implement solutions to maximize profits across Gibson Energy’s Infrastructure.
• Assess opportunities within Gibson Energy’s Infrastructure to improve profitability and drive value.
• Monitor and manage Shipper positions to coordinate product movements.
• Maintain effective communication with Terminal Control Centers with daily instructions.
• Prepare detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders on operational performance and scheduling efficiency.
• Develop and enhance procedures and systems to support growth of Gibson Energy’s Infrastructure.
• Demonstrate EH&S commitment and ensure safe operation and compliance with policies.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

The Role

The Scheduler plays a crucial role in our commercial operations, overseeing the coordination and optimization of internal Marketing schedules for physical crude oil movements and the blending process. This position involves managing the efficient flow of crude oil and other commodities through Gibson terminals and pipelines, ensuring adherence to key deadlines and operational requirements.

What You Will Do

• Develop and execute daily schedules for the movement of crude oil and other commodities, ensuring ratability, crude quality, and optimal operational efficiency.

• Maintain effective communication with Terminal Control Centers, providing daily instructions and ensuring seamless operations.
• Prepare detailed reports for both internal and external stakeholders, offering insights into operational performance and scheduling efficiency.
• Develop and enhance procedures and systems to support the growth of Gibson Energy’s Infrastructure
• Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Role

• Post-secondary education with bachelor’s degree in business related discipline (Commerce, Finance, Marketing, and Economics).
• Minimum 1-3 years of progressive experience in the movement of product and related logistical experience, as well as knowledge of production practices and pipeline operations.
• Demonstrates strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks at one time.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Demonstrates strong analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.

Working Conditions

• This position requires on-call coverage as needed to address any scheduling issues.
• This work schedule is 8-hour workdays with a rotation of 10 days on and 4 days off.
• The majority of the work is performed in an office environment.
