SCADA & IoT Project Manager (Energy Sector) – Contract

We are seeking a SCADA & IoT Project Manager to lead the requirements gathering, planning, and execution of SCADA and IoT integration projects in the energy sector. This role is crucial in ensuring that technical requirements are clearly defined and documented to support seamless SCADA-IoT system integration.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with engineering teams, automation specialists, and business stakeholders to ensure that project goals are met. While PLC programming is not required, an understanding of SCADA-PLC interactions and industrial automation workflows is necessary.

Key Responsibilities
Requirements Gathering & Technical Documentation (Primary Focus)
  • Lead requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders, engineers, and end-users to define functional and technical specifications.
  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including SCADA architecture, IoT sensor integration, and system communication workflows.
  • Translate business objectives into structured system requirements, ensuring compliance with industry standards (IEC 61850, IEEE 2030.5, OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, DNP3).
  • Document SCADA & IoT system interactions, security considerations, and performance metrics.
Project Management & Execution
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of SCADA & IoT energy projects.
  • Manage project timelines, risk assessments, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Ensure alignment between IoT devices, SCADA platforms, cloud analytics, and industrial automation systems.
  • Work with control system engineers, cybersecurity teams, and developers to optimize system performance.
  • Ensure compliance with energy regulatory requirements and smart grid standards.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
  • Act as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear and structured communication.
  • Provide technical and business documentation, including functional requirements, risk assessments, and process flowcharts.
  • Conduct workshops and stakeholder meetings to refine system requirements and project scope.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in SCADA, IoT, or industrial automation project management.
  • Proven expertise in requirements gathering, stakeholder communication, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of SCADA platforms (Ignition, AVEVA/Wonderware, GE iFIX, EcoStruxure, or similar).
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT, DNP3, IEC 61850).
  • Understanding of SCADA-PLC interactions, but PLC programming is not required.
  • Experience working on IoT solutions for smart grids, predictive maintenance, or remote monitoring.
  • Ability to write functional requirements, detailed technical specifications, and system integration documents.
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership, and collaboration skills.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certification is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with renewable energy SCADA & IoT applications.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks for SCADA/IoT systems.
  • Understanding of cloud-based SCADA and IoT analytics (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, Google Cloud IoT).
