Star Building Materials is seeking a Saw Operator - Lumber to join our on-site team in Alberta. You will cut lumber to order specifications, operate multiple saws, and follow safety programs while ensuring quality and timely workflow.

You will review instructions, prepare materials, and coordinate with forklift operators. The role requires physical endurance and attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.

Qualificações

• Must have at least 6 months of experience operating table saw, shop saw, or radial arm saw.
• Completion of middle school; ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Criminal record check must be satisfactory.
• Physically able to kneel, crouch and lift up to 50 lbs in a noisy, dusty environment.
• Able to follow instructions and maintain safety.

Responsabilidades

• Review work instructions to determine the lumber required for each job.
• Inspect quality and store lumber; replenish and organize raw materials at the station.
• Coordinate lumber placements with the forklift operator as needed.
• Ensure lumber is sawn accurately to specified dimensions and angles.
• Examine work orders to determine procedures and setup for equipment.
• Promote a safe work environment and adhere to safety program.

Job Overview

Reporting to theYard Manager, as theSaw Operator - Lumberyou areresponsible for cutting lumber accurately according to order specifications using a variety of saws. You work in a safe manner, and adhere to Qualico’s Safety Program.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing work instructions and determining the accurate lumber required for the job.
• Inspecting quality and storing lumber in designated areas. Replenishing and organizing raw materials at the station.
• Coordinating lumber placements with the forklift operator when necessary.
• Ensuring lumber is sawed accurately according to specified dimensions and angles.
• Examining work orders to determine appropriate procedures and proper setup of equipment.
• Promoting a safe work environment, adhering to Qualico’s Safety Program and relevant safety regulations. Report safety violations when necessary.

• Physically able to kneel and crouch as well as lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing up to 50lbs.
• Attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination, and situational awareness of the physical work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience using a variety of tools such as nail guns, saws and banding machines is definitely an asset.
• Working in a production plant with lumber is and asset.

Working Conditions

You primarily work on site during regular business hours. Work has exposure to noise from equipment/machinery and occupational hazards as well as dealing with inclement weather and dust. Overtime may occasionally be required.
