Job summary

Star Building Materials Calgary is seeking a Class 1 Driver to deliver building materials to customer homes and sites. You will load, transport, and unload materials manually or with a boom truck crane, while ensuring on-time delivery and safety compliance.

The role emphasizes customer service, accuracy in shipping documents, and adherence to Star’s safety procedures. Outdoor work with potential overtime during peak seasons is expected.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school, must be able to read and write, and perform basic math.
• Minimum 3 months of delivery experience.
• Valid Class 1 driver’s licence.
• Satisfactory verification of criminal record check and driver’s abstract.
• Attention to detail, good hand/eye coordination and situational awareness of physical work environment.
• Physically able to kneel and crouch as well as lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing up to 85 lbs. without the assistance of mobile or powered equipment.
• Physically able to climb ladders and work at heights of up to 24’ on flat or angled rooftops.

Responsibilities

• Providing excellent customer service to all customers as a representative of the company.
• Loading trucks in a safe and timely manner, minimizing down time in the yard. Assisting Forklift Operators to load trucks as needed.
• Verifying accuracy of shipping documents.
• Delivering materials via the most efficient route to remain on schedule.
• Adhering to Star’s Safety Programs and standard operating procedures at all times.
• Keeping equipment clean and in good operating condition, including completion of daily pre-trip inspections and site assessments.

• Ability to operate a manual transmission is preferred.
• Ability to maneuver a trailer is a strong asset.
• Crane experience is an asset.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Logistics Manager, as theClass 1 Driveryou are responsible for delivering building materials to customer homes or construction sites. The Class 1 Driver also loads, transports and unloads materials manually or by using the boom truck crane.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Providing excellent customer service to all customers as a representative of the company.

Work Conditions

You primarily work outdoors on job sites during regular business hours. Work is mobile with exposure to potential accidents or occupational hazards as well as dealing with inclement weather, heights, dust and noise. Occasional weekend or evening work may be required. Actions taken and decisions made directly impact the safety and health of others. Overtime may be required during the busy season.
