Job summary

Star Building Materials Winnipeg is seeking a Saw Operator - Lumber to cut lumber accurately to order specifications using a variety of saws at their Winnipeg location. You will work safely and follow Qualico's Safety Program while contributing to efficient production at 16 Speers Road.

The role requires 6 months of related saw experience, ability to read and perform basic math, and physical endurance to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Completion of middle school, must be able to read and write and perform basic math.
• Minimum 6 months of experience operating table saw, shop saw and radial arm saw.
• Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
• Physically able to kneel and crouch as well as lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing up to 50lbs.
• Attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination, and situational awareness of the physical work environment.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing work instructions and determining the accurate lumber required for the job.
• Inspecting quality and storing lumber in designated areas. Replenishing and organizing raw materials at the station.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Operations Manager, as the Saw Operator - Lumber you areresponsible for cutting lumber accurately according to order specifications using a variety of saws. You work in a safe manner, and adhere to Qualico's Safety Program.

Your Day-to-day Responsibilities Will Include

• Reviewing work instructions and determining the accurate lumber required for the job.
• Inspecting quality and storing lumber in designated areas. Replenishing and organizing raw materials at the station.

Working Conditions

You primarily work on site during regular business hours. Work has exposure to noise from equipment/machinery and occupational hazards as well as dealing with inclement weather and dust. Overtime may occasionally be required.
