Job summary

Domtar Thunder Bay Sawmill is seeking a qualified Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance personnel and external contractors in a safe, productive manner. You’ll drive planning and supervision of maintenance and capital work as we transition from project construction to daily operations.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of leadership experience in a maintenance environment, with a strong background in mechanical or electrical techs, CMMS, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of leadership experience
• Mechanical or Electrical Technologist background or trades cert
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to change
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills
• Solid computer skills and MS Office
• Good working knowledge of sawmill and planer mill equipment
• Focus on Safety & Reliability Excellence

Responsibilities

• Ensure application of highest Safety standards for all maintenance operations
• Provide leadership, technical support and coaching to maintenance personnel and peers
• Collaborate with Production and Maintenance to plan, schedule and supervise maintenance and capital work
• Utilize CMMS for processing work orders, purchase requisitions, weekly schedules, PMs, and updating equipment database
• Perform periodic inspections of equipment and systems
• Supervise repairs/projects carried out by sub-contractors and ensure quality and deadlines
• Plan and control expenditures within the department budget
• Verify availability of parts, materials and tools
• Ensure compliance to health and safety policies and regulations
