Domtar's Thunder Bay Sawmill in Thunder Bay, Ontario, is seeking a Sawmill Operator (Level 3) to safely operate sawmill equipment, support production, and maintain quality. This full-time role offers a night-shift premium and a path for growth within a major Canadian manufacturer.

Ideal candidates hold a Grade 12 diploma, have safety-focused mindset, good communication, and the stamina to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Industrial, manufacturing or labour experience is an asset.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Demonstrated safety focus and ability to follow procedures.
• Able to work 12-hour rotating shifts (4-on/4-off).
• Reliable transportation to Thunder Bay Sawmill.

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned sawmill equipment safely and productively.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the work area.
• Ensure product quality meets standards and customer requirements.
• Handle repetitive, manual tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Follow health, safety and environmental standards.

The location in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada is seeking talent to fill the position of Sawmill Operator, Thunder Bay Sawmill. This job is full-time permanent.

As a Sawmill Operator (Level 3) you will be responsible to provide safe operation of your assigned sawmill equipment to work in a safe and productive manner to maximize quality and production while minimizing unscheduled downtime.

Your responsibilities:

• Comply with our health, safety, and environmental standards
• Ensure the cleanliness and safety of your assigned areas of the factory
• As required operate equipment safely and monitor their use
• Ensure that product quality meets our standards and customer requirements
• Work will require your ability to perform repetitive, manual tasks for extended periods of time, including, but not limited to, piling lumber, standing for long hours, walking, shoveling, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 50lbs
• Experience with and/or around manufacturing machinery and equipment
• Other duties as assigned

Ideal profile:

• Grade 12 High School diploma or equivalent
• Industrial, manufacturing, construction, or labour experience is an asset.
• You are 18 years and older
• Your uncompromising approach to safety is recognized
• Effective communication and the ability to work collaboratively
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating 4-days-on/4-days-off schedule
• Reliable transportation to and from the Thunder Bay Sawmill (156 Darrel Avenue, Thunder Bay, ON)
• You can lift and manipulate heavy equipment (up to 50 pounds)
• You are interested in the industrial environment and are resourceful

• Reporting to the Sawmill / Planer Supervisor, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations.
