Job summary

Thunder Bay Pulp & Paper in Northwestern Ontario seeks a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to lead unionized mill maintenance personnel and external contractors to maximize quality and production while minimizing downtime. You will drive health and safety, efficiency, and cost targets for the site.

Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with laws, leading maintenance scheduling, and mentoring staff for continuous improvement. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Red Seal trade certificate or higher education in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Diploma or degree in mechanical engineering, or 2+ years supervising trades in a unionized industrial setting.
• Excellent communication and listening skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong planning, prioritizing and delegation capabilities.
• Proficient with CMMS and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Ensure facility compliance with health, safety and environmental laws and regulations.
• Enforce company policies and values and meet legal requirements.
• Lead a unionized team to optimize maintenance and coordinate routine and preventive maintenance by tradespersons.
• Collaborate with operating departments and planners to complete mechanical maintenance.
• Mentor and coach employees through active observation and feedback.
