The primary responsibility of a Junior Learning Assistant is to support student learning by serving as an additional resource outside of regular class hours. They will contribute to MaKami’s vision of a positive learning environment by providing one-on-one and group tutoring.

Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  1. Providing students with educational support and effective study strategies.
  2. Assisting with the development of tutoring resources to enhance student learning.
  3. Offering individualized and group tutoring and learning plans tailored to students' needs.
  4. Monitoring students' progress and adjusting tutoring strategies accordingly.
  5. Reviewing and creating training materials to increase tutoring effectiveness.
  6. Supporting instructors to ensure an inclusive learning environment for students with special considerations.
  7. Preparing for lessons by gathering materials or setting up equipment.
  8. Supporting the Student Advisory Services Department.
  9. Collaborating with the Strategic Academic Learning Team and students to develop personalized tutoring plans.
  10. Participating in tutor training and professional development sessions.
  11. Performing additional duties such as marking assignments and creating tutoring materials as assigned by the Student Success Centre Supervisor.
