Job Title: Family Service Counselor

Accountable for serving client families by making at-need cemetery arrangements and selling pre-need arrangements. The Family Service Counselor provides exemplary personalized service and plays an essential role in generating revenue for the cemetery. They act as the primary contact for families.

Job Responsibilities

Lead Generation

• Prospect for potential clients for 1-2 hours daily
• Obtain referrals from families served
• Network and build community and civic relationships
• Present and explain services to families
• Track activity levels to ensure productivity

Build Relationships with Families

• Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries
• Listen and communicate honestly with families
• Understand family needs and offer tailored solutions
• Maintain contact to ensure satisfaction
• Prepare thoroughly for appointments and perform procedures professionally
• Follow up on customer requests and problems
• Build trust to earn referrals and educate families on pre-planning benefits

Teamwork

• Ensure continuous service from at-need to aftercare and future protection
• Collaborate with funeral directors, managers, and staff for seamless service
• Review previous family contacts to support current needs
• Share family concerns with the team

Minimum Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years of college or equivalent experience

Experience

• Customer service or sales experience preferred

Licenses

• Valid driver’s license with acceptable record

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to pass internal presentation certification within 30 days
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends
• Ability to drive frequently
• Obtain and maintain necessary licenses
• Flexible hours; ability to work up to 12 hours occasionally
