The Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa is hiring a Sales Manager for Precious Metal Products and Services to lead key customer relationships and grow our numismatics business. This role reports to the Managing Director–Sales and works with cross-functional teams to deliver value to clients.

The successful candidate will bring 7+ years of relevant business experience, strong English and French communications, and proven negotiation skills.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of related business/sales experience.
  • Experience in numismatics or precious metals is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage complex customer relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English and French.

Job description

The Royal Canadian Mint (the Mint) is hiring Sales Manager, Precious Metal Products and Services who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Managing Director–Sales, Precious Metal Products and Services, this role is responsible for leading customer relationships and developing new business primarily for our numismatics business.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee the sales activities of a customer segment within the Mint’s precious metal businesses, in areas of key day-to-day account management, pipeline management, issues management and new business development.
  • Develop sales through frequent customer and prospect meetings and establishing and maintaining direct contacts with numismatics retailers, wholesalers and other distribution channels.
  • Develop deep knowledge and expertise in the Mint’s products and related services and ensure that key attributes and benefits are well understood by customers or prospective customers.
  • Identify new market niches and establish new product and service offerings for the precious metals business, with an emphasis on the numismatics area.
  • Provide input to and assist in business line strategic and operational planning, pricing strategies, sales activity planning, short- and long-term forecasting; budget preparation and performance measures; contribute to the formulation and implementation of cooperative advertising initiatives, programs, campaigns, etc.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure consistently high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Promote cooperation between team members, including supporting sales of other products and services, and with other departments to support service delivery and product development.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring on-site presence at our Ottawa location three to five days per week, depending on meeting requirements and other activities.

Qualifications:

Languages Requirements:

Proficiency in both official languages (English / French) is required at the time of hire. If no qualified candidate fully meets the required levels, other candidate language profiles may be considered in accordance with the Mint’s Staffing Policy. The linguistic profile for this position is:

Education & Designation:

  • University degree in a related area (e.g. business, finance or a related technical field) preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of related business experience, including customer-facing roles

Additional Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of any of the following:
    • Numismatics as an essential area of knowledge
    • Knowledge of other the Mint business areas is helpful
  • Able to travel (10-30% of the time), and available to work extended and/or irregular hours
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to influence others and work in a team; strong negotiation skills
  • Proficiency with financial concepts and calculations,
  • Service oriented with an ability to prioritize tasks to meet customer and internal needs
  • Highly motivated self-starter; takes initiative
  • Sound judgment and integrity
