Job summary

The Mint in Ottawa is seeking a Customer Experience Ambassador to provide informative, friendly tours to visitors and promote the Mint through product sales in the boutique.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Retails, you will lead guided tours in both official languages, respond to inquiries, handle purchases, and help ensure smooth daily operations while delivering outstanding customer service.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual English and French required at time of hire.
  • College diploma and experience in a similar function.
  • Minimum two years in tourism industry or retail environment.
  • Customer service and sales experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Book and organize guided tours in both official languages.
  • Lead tours for groups up to 30 people and greet visitors.
  • Answer inquiries, resolve issues, and provide solutions.
  • Support product sales and promote Mint merchandise.
  • Ensure boutique operations run smoothly and inventory is replenished.

Job description

The Mint is hiring a Customer Experience Ambassador who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Retails, the Customer Experience Ambassador will be responsible for providing informative, friendly and entertaining tours to visitors, promoting the Mint through the sale of its products and ensuring the seamless flow of day-to-day work activities in the boutique.

Qualifications:

Language Requirements:

Proficiency in both official languages (English / French) is required at the time of hire. If no qualified candidate fully meets the required levels, other candidate language profiles may be considered in accordance with the Mint’s Staffing Policy. The linguistic profile for this position is:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • College diploma and experience in a similar function
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in the tourism industry and/or in a retail environment
  • Customer service and sales experience is an asset

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the Royal Canadian Mint, its products and its markets
  • Guided tour and introduction techniques while greeting visitors
  • Use of computers and able to operate cash registers and cash handling
  • Inventory replenishing and control

Skills and Abilities:

  • Book and organize guided tours.
  • Lead guided tours in both official languages; confident with public speaking in groups up to 30 people
  • Answer visitor inquiries and complaints professionally, find appropriate solutions and resolve these efficiently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and competent with selling and training techniques
  • Possess strong communication skills with positive teamwork attitude
  • Work well under pressure and comfortable with repetitive tasks.
  • Write clearly and concisely in both official languages
  • Demonstrate initiative and sound judgment. Able to determine priorities and remain organized

The retail boutique and tours operate 7 days a week. Ambassadors must be prepared to work both weekends and holidays as required. Candidate will be scheduled based on operational requirements and expected to be available for the scheduled hours.
