Job summary

Blue Lakes Premium Meats, a Canadian meat processor, seeks an experienced Sales Manager with a strong background in the beef industry to lead our sales function and drive profitable growth.

The role reports to the President & CEO and requires an established beef industry sales leader with experience managing significant annual sales volumes, developing major customer relationships, expanding into new markets, and leading high-performing sales teams.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive B2B beef sales experience.
  • Track record of $50M+ in annual beef sales.
  • 3–5 years of sales leadership experience.
  • Established industry relationships across retail, foodservice, wholesale and/or distribution channels.
  • Strong knowledge of beef pricing, gross margins, forecasting and negotiations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing or related field is an asset.
  • Valid driver's licence and ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Sales Department and provide leadership to the sales team and independent sales representatives.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to increase revenue, market share and profitability.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across Canada and targeted North American markets.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key customers across retail, foodservice, wholesale and distribution channels.
  • Monitor beef market conditions, competitive pricing, commodity trends, customer demand and margin expectations.
  • Lead customer negotiations, pricing, quotations and proposals while maintaining targeted gross margins.
  • Establish and monitor sales KPIs, including revenue, gross margin, new customer acquisition, customer retention, forecast accuracy and quote conversion.
  • Develop sales forecasts, budgets, targets and growth plans in collaboration with the President & CEO.
  • Coach and develop the sales team to achieve individual and departmental objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with Production Scheduling, Customer Care, Marketing and Operations to support customer requirements and business growth.
  • Represent the company at customer meetings, industry events, trade shows and networking opportunities.

About the Opportunity

Blue Lakes Premium Meats is seeking an experienced Sales Manager with a strong background in the beef industry to lead our sales function and drive profitable growth.

Reporting to the President & CEO, this role requires an established beef industry sales leader with experience managing significant annual sales volumes, developing major customer relationships, expanding into new markets, and leading high-performing sales teams.

The successful candidate will bring strong beef product knowledge, industry relationships, and commercial experience across retail, foodservice, wholesale and distribution channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated track record of managing or generating approximately $50M+ in annual sales within the beef industry in a highly competitive market.
  • Established industry relationships and network across retail, foodservice, wholesale and/or distribution channels.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of sales leadership experience, with demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing sales teams.
  • Proven success developing new business and managing major/key customer relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of beef pricing, gross margins, forecasting, customer negotiations and market dynamics.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM/sales management systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing or a related field is an asset.
  • Valid driver's licence and ability to travel as required.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: $70,000–$90,000 per year, based on experience.
