Job summary

Fraser Valley Building Supplies in Trail, Canada, is seeking a Sales Associate to greet customers, help them find the right products, and process transactions quickly. You’ll contribute to a welcoming store environment and support teammates to maintain neat displays and accurate pricing.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers within a 5-foot distance in a friendly manner and assist with product selection.

• Use our customer service approach – Greet, Qualify, Recommend, and Close – to understand each customer’s project and suggest the right products and add-ons.
• Look up products and prices for customers using our systems and website, including special orders and regular products.
• Create special orders and order products for customers and follow up when they arrive.
• Process transactions quickly and professionally, including returns and exchanges.
• Stock shelves and perform minor replenishment and shelf cleaning as requested.
• Stay informed on promotions and product availability.
• Collaborate with teammates to keep the store running smoothly and support a great customer experience.
• Complete opening and closing duties.
• Work in compliance with WorkSafe standards.

About the Role

As a Sales Associate, your main priority is to give every customer the best shopping experience possible. You’ll greet customers, help them find the right products for their projects, suggest add‑ons they might not have thought of, and process transactions quickly and efficiently. You’ll also handle special orders, support your teammates, and keep your area of the store looking great.

You’re often one of the first people a customer talks to, so your attitude and product knowledge make a real difference. You’ll also be an important part of the team – communicating openly, pitching in wherever needed, and helping create an environment where customers and colleagues both feel welcome.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Greeting customers within a 5-foot distance in a friendly manner, in accordance with our greeting policy
• Assisting customers in finding products and offering product knowledge to enhance their shopping experience
• Using our customer service approach – Greet, Qualify, Recommend, and Close – to understand each customer’s project and suggest the right products and any helpful add‑ons
• Looking up products and prices for customers using our systems and website, including special orders and regular products
• Creating special orders and ordering products for customers as required, and following up when their order has arrived
• Processing transactions quickly and professionally, including returns and exchanges
• Facing shelves and completing minor stock replenishment and shelf cleaning as requested
• Staying proactively informed on promotions and product availability
• Working collaboratively with teammates to keep the store running smoothly and to support a great customer experience
• Completing opening and closing duties
• Always working in compliance with WorkSafe standards
