Job summary

Long & McQuade Limited in Ottawa is seeking a Sales and Rental Associate / Account Services Representative to assist customers with purchasing and renting musical instruments and gear, and to process accounts.

You will define customer needs, demonstrate products, handle credit and collections duties, and provide regular status reports to the Store Manager.

Candidates should be a musician, flexible to weekdays, weeknights and weekends, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Help our customers through the selling and renting of musical instruments and gear.

• Answer telephone calls in a timely and professional manner.
• Follow up on product orders with customers and suppliers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues with a practical, common-sense approach.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of our products, policies and procedures.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and periodic training sessions.
• Merchandise store to create an inviting shopping environment.
• Participate in store maintenance, warehouse duties, and related tasks.
• Collection of accounts receivable, outstanding rentals, and bad debts.
• Credit approvals for term and balance forward accounts.
• Credit approvals for consumer and commercial account rentals.
• Assist customers with account and rental inquiries.
• Locate new contact information for credit customers.
• Perform sundry account maintenance.
• Registration of accounts through Personal Property Registry.
• Work with Equifax reports and reporting criteria.
• Work with Small Claims Courts system.
• Provide regular status reports to the Store Manager.
• Provide monthly status reports to the Account Services Regional Manager.
