Maple Leaf Foods Inc is seeking a Health and Safety Manager to lead the Health and Safety Management System (HSMS), ensuring compliance with corporate and legislative requirements. You will report to the Plant Manager and coach managers and supervisors in maintaining the system.

As a member of the Site Leadership Team, you will drive safety and wellness initiatives, train staff, coordinate with the Joint OH&S Committee, and promote a proactive safety culture across the operation in Ontario.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of experience in an Occupational Health and Safety role in manufacturing.
• Bachelor of Science in OH&S, or certificate/diploma in OH&S (sciences preferred).
• Demonstrated leadership in a manufacturing/process environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of OH&S legislation with training in hazard recognition, assessment, and control.

Responsabilités

• Provide leadership and direction to managers, supervisors, and employees in safety and incident prevention activities.
• Ensure OH&S roles and responsibilities are defined, understood, and acted upon by managers, supervisors and committee members.
• Foster strong staff relationships to maintain commitment from all employees.
• Implement and monitor the OH&S Management System (OHSMS), including safe work procedures and on‑the‑job training.
• Maintain and review OHSMS documentation and conduct inspections, risk assessments, and audits.
• Train supervisors on incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Coordinate incident reporting systems and ensure compliance with requirements.
• Provide or assist with orientation, education, and training on OH&S practices and legislation.
